This sand analysis exercise is based on two sand samples from different locations.
Two 0.15kg samples of sands from different locations have been passed through sieves of decreasing size until all the material is retained. The contents of each sieve have been weighed and the results are given in two tables.
Worked examples are included at the end of the exercise.
This resource features photographs of three different sands.
The three sands are a fluvial (river) sand, a beach sand and a desert (dune) sand.
For each sand there is an analysis of the sediment and the interpretations made of the analysis.
