Herdman Symposium 2024

CONFERENCE THEME: “ENERGY AND SUSTAINABILITY”

Date: Saturday 17th February 2024

Time: 9.30am-5.00pm.

Drinks reception: 5.00pm-6.00pm (location to be confirmed).

Location: Central Teaching Hub, University of Liverpool, L69 7BX

Conference speakers:

  • Dr Frances Cooper (University College London): “Tectonics, climate, and copper in the Central Andes”
  • Dr Jessica Pugsley (University of Aberdeen): “Virtual outcrops in the modern geological toolkit”
  • Dr Jeremy Sloan (University of Warwick): “Perovskites in Geology and Materials Science: from Igneous Rocks to the Picoscale”
  • Dr Kathryn Moore (Camborne School of Mines, University of Exeter): “Geoenergy, critical metals and responsible mining”
  • Dr Joshua Griffiths (National Nuclear Laboratory): “Nuclear Waste Management and Disposal in the UK”
  • Dr David McNamara (University of Liverpool): “Mineral processes impacting geological solutions for Net Zero”

How to buy tickets:

  • Tickets are available from the University of Liverpool Online Shop: https://payments.liv.ac.uk/conferences-and-events/events-at-liverpool/school-of-environmental-sciences/51st-herdman-symposium-“energy-and-sustainability”
  • Ticket sales end Thursday 8thFebruary 23:59pm.

Ticket prices:

  • University of Liverpool students: £6.00.

  • Pre-university students/Under 18s: £6.00.
  • Liverpool Geological Society members or Geological Association members: £11.00.

  • Carer of attendee: £0.00 (you will be asked you are attending with).
  • General: £16.00.

A free buffet lunch will be provided to all attendees included with the ticket price. All tickets include entry to both the Symposium and a drinks reception held afterwards. One free drinks voucher will be provided to each attendee for the reception.
